A Vegan does not consume any animal products. This includes meat, dairy, fish, eggs, and cheese. An ethical Vegan does not purchase any products that tests on animals. This includes cosmetics, soaps etc.
Over here, You’ll get to understand what it means to be a Vegan, what makes Vegans Vegan, obstacles/challenges we face and the controversy thats ongoing. Regardless of whether you’re Vegan or not, I believe that we ought to know how our food comes about. From living breathing animals to slaughter houses and onto our plates.
‘if its not good enough for your eyes, why is it good enough for your stomach’
Personally, I didn’t think twice about where my food comes from prior to being Vegan. Ignorance may be bliss. However, sudden revelations are way more impactful. For me, I feel compelled to make a change when I found out what I’ve been doing has caused so much harm and cruelty. I believe we all are empowered to make a difference. Because every dollar we spend, shows our support for companies. And for me, I wouldn’t put my money where animal cruelty resides.
You don’t have to agree with me 100% . I’m not trying to enforce my beliefs onto anyone or try to convert you. I’m just here to provide information and references that helped me become Vegan and how you potentially be one too. 🙂
Benefits of being Vegan: (based on my own experience)
- You save the animals
- You save Yourself
- You save the environment
- You’ll (probably) lose weight
- You’ll have better complexion
- You’ll have more energy
- You’ll think clearly
- You’ll be in a better mood most of the time
- No food coma (or at least I didn’t have it anymore)
- Regular bowel movement
Drawbacks of being Vegan:
- Pretty expensive if you eat out
- Tough to find Vegan food outside (in Singapore at least)
- May face social rejection (from friends and family)
As you can see, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. More posts will be up on how I deal with such instances of not having enough $ and embracing my non-Vegan friends too. The old bigotry between Vegans and Non-Vegans exist, but let us receive information with an open mind and break down those walls within us.
Hopefully someday we’ll see eye to eye.
150 years ago, they would’ve thought you were absurd if you advocated for the end of slavery. 100 years ago, they would’ve laughed at you for suggesting that women should have the right to vote. 50 years ago, they would’ve objected to the idea of african americans receiving equal rights under the law. 25 years ago, they would’ve called you a pervert if you advocated for gay rights. They laugh at us now for suggesting that animal slavery be ended. Someday they won’t be laughing
